The game industry is increasingly global and the number of people playing games is growing exponentially due to casual games and better user interfaces. With games everywhere, the term "Gamer" is becoming more acceptable, but many of the new players of games don't realize they are gamers. Below are facts that we have collected on the games industry:

US games revenues will be $21-23 Billion in 2009 according to NPD.

PC gaming revenue will hit $19 billion by 2013 according to NPD.

Asia-Pacific will be the largest area of growth in both revenues and unit sales over the next decade with 2007 Revenue estimates are $5.8 Billion and this is expected to grow to $21.1 Billion in 2013 according to InStat.

According to NASSCOM, the India Gaming Industry is expected to reach $350 Million by 2010.

Local content is important for growing the market in China, Korea, India and the Middle East.

Self-publishing will only grow if developers see success from the first few waves of self-publishing pioneers.

There are currently more than 1,850 development studios worldwide according to GameDevMap.

The hardcore gamer is becoming less important as the mainstream market for interactive entertainment grows.
